Sell activity vouchers

Learn how to let customers buy your activities as a present, so they can pick a date and book with their voucher code.

Activity vouchers let customers buy one of your activities as a present. The person who receives it picks a date that suits them and books with their voucher code. They make a great gift for your best-known experiences, like a taster session or a family day out, and they bring in money before the season starts.

Activity vouchers are switched on by default when you create an activity, so you may already be selling them.

Check activity vouchers are switched on

To check an activity can be bought as a voucher, go to Products -> Activities.

  1. Open the activity and select 'Edit'
  2. Go to the Options step and open Vouchers and passes
  3. Make sure 'Allow customers to buy vouchers for this activity' is ticked
  4. Save your changes

Repeat this for any activity you'd like to offer as a voucher. If there's an activity you don't want sold as a voucher, untick the box.

How customers buy an activity voucher

Your activity vouchers appear in the Vouchers & passes section of your booking widget. Customers choose the activity, the number of people the voucher covers and any add-ons, and tick 'This is a gift' if it's a present. They get the voucher code by email as soon as they've paid, so last-minute gifts work too.

How customers use their voucher

Before they start a booking, customers select 'I have a voucher or pass' on your widget and enter their code. They go straight to the activity to choose a date and time, and the booking covers the people and add-ons on the voucher.

Good to know

  • Activity vouchers last 12 months from the date they're bought. If you'd like a different expiry period for an activity, contact our team at help@eola.co
  • Each activity voucher is for one activity and can be used for one booking
  • If you'd rather customers chose an amount to spend on anything you sell, offer credit vouchers as well

Helpful tips:

  • Add a "Buy a voucher" button to your website that links straight to the Vouchers & passes section of your widget
  • Start promoting vouchers from mid-November, when gift buyers start looking
  • Tell customers to select 'I have a voucher or pass' before they start booking, for example in your voucher text or on your website
