Use a desktop scanner for check-in
Find out how to use a handheld QR code scanner at your front desk to check customers in from a computer.
A handheld QR code scanner lets you check customers in from a computer instead of a phone. It's the quickest option at a busy front desk.
You'll need the Check-in app and QR code check-in switched on first.
Set up your scanner
- Plug the scanner into your computer
- Select Check-in at the top of your Dashboard to open the check-in scanner page
- Leave the page open at your front desk
Almost any scanner model works. Most type the code in like a keyboard would, with nothing to install.
Check a customer in
Scan the QR code in the customer's booking confirmation email as they arrive. They're checked in and their booking appears on screen.
If a customer still owes money, their membership is no longer active, or they haven't signed a disclaimer or answered a questionnaire, the scanner asks you first, so you can sort it out while they're at the desk.
No scanner yet?
The check-in scanner page can use your computer's or tablet's own camera instead. Hold the customer's QR code up to the camera to scan it.
Helpful tips:
- Keep the check-in scanner page open throughout busy sessions
- Have customers' booking emails ready on their phones as they queue
- Use the on-screen booking details to sort out anything outstanding before they head out
