Understand family memberships
Find out how family memberships work, how members add family to their membership and book for them, and how to handle juniors and shared email addresses.
A family membership lets one person join and bring the people they live and play with along too. It's a great way to welcome whole households and keep them coming back. Here's how family memberships work for you and your members.
What makes a membership a family membership?
When you create a price plan, you choose how many adults and children the membership's benefits apply to. A family plan might cover 2 adults and 2 children, for example. That number sets how many people can use the benefits on a booking.
Who holds the membership?
One person buys the membership and holds it on their eola account. They pay for it, manage the card details and add the rest of the family.
How does a member add family members?
Family members are added after the membership has been bought. The member:
- Signs in to their eola account
- Goes to Memberships and views the membership
- Selects 'Add member'
Members can also edit or remove family members from their account at any time.
How do family members book?
Family members book through the account holder's eola account. The account holder signs in through your widget and books for the family, and the benefits apply to the number of adults and children on the plan.
Junior memberships bought by a parent
When a parent buys a membership for a child, they buy it on their own eola account and add their child as a member. This way the parent manages the membership for them.
Shared email addresses
Each eola customer account is linked to its own email address, so two people can't share one. One person can hold more than one membership, though, and add specific people to each. A parent can hold a junior membership for each child on their own account, for example. If a child would like their own account, they'll need their own email address.
Good to know
- To move a member from a family membership to a single one, open their subscription, click Edit, choose the new plan and click Change subscription
- The Members section of a subscription shows who it covers
- On a group or family booking, there's one QR code for the whole party, on the booker's confirmation email
Helpful tips:
- Tell new family members to add their family straight after joining, so everyone is ready to book
- Check the Members section after a family member has been added, to make sure everyone's included
- If a family needs a hand setting up, contact our team at help@eola.co and we'll be happy to help
