Understand eola Marketplace fees
Learn how eola Marketplace pricing works, when the Marketplace fee applies and how it shows in your payouts.
Being listed on eola Marketplace is free. There's no sign-up cost, no monthly charge and nothing to pay if Marketplace doesn't bring you a booking. A Marketplace fee only applies when we've brought a customer to you.
What is the Marketplace fee?
When a customer books with you through eola Marketplace, an additional Marketplace fee of 15% + VAT applies to that booking. This covers the marketing we invest in to promote your business, including search engine optimisation, Google Things to Do, ad campaigns, spotlight content and customer emails. It means you don't need to spend your own time or budget on that marketing to reach these customers.
When does the Marketplace fee apply?
- It only applies to bookings made through eola Marketplace (eola.co).
- Bookings made through your own widget (widget.eola.co), for example from your website, social media or emails, are standard bookings and don't include a Marketplace fee.
- If a customer who first found you on Marketplace later comes back and books through your own widget, that booking is a standard booking.
- Bookings from customers who are already members of your centre don't include a Marketplace fee.
How does it work alongside my other fees?
Your usual fees work exactly as normal on every booking: the eola booking fee and Stripe payment processing, both set out in your plan. The Marketplace fee is added only on Marketplace bookings, and like your other fees it's taken before your payout, so there's nothing extra for you to pay or reconcile.
Where can I see Marketplace bookings and fees?
Marketplace bookings are clearly marked in your reporting, and the fees for each booking are shown in your payout reports. For the bigger picture of what Marketplace has brought your business, take a look at the Impact page under Reports -> Impact.
Helpful tips:
- Make sure the booking links on your website, social media and emails point to your own widget, so bookings from your existing customers are always standard bookings. Our Check your booking links point to your widget guide shows you how.
- If an activity has particularly tight margins, or is only for existing customers, you can hide just that activity from Marketplace rather than switching Marketplace off altogether.
- Curious how much Marketplace has brought you? Take a look at your Impact page under Reports -> Impact, or email help@eola.co and we'll share your Marketplace results.
