Understand Average Capacity in the Product Performance Report
Find out what the Average Capacity figure in your Product Performance Report shows, how it's worked out and how to use it to plan your sessions.
The Product Performance Report helps you see how each of your activities is performing over a date range you choose. The Average Capacity column shows how full your sessions have been, so you can spot which activities are in demand and which have room to grow.
What does Average Capacity show?
Average Capacity compares the number of people booked onto a product with all the spaces you made available for it in the date range you've selected. It's shown as a percentage or a decimal, for example 0.3 means 30% of your available spaces were booked.
Why might the figure be lower than I expect?
Average Capacity takes into account every available space for that product in your date range, including timeslots that are available but haven't had any bookings yet. If you have upcoming sessions, or sessions that ran without bookings, these will bring the overall figure down.
For example, if a session with space for 8 people has 4 people booked, that session on its own is 50% full. But if you have other available sessions for the same product in your date range with no bookings, they're included too, so the Average Capacity for the product will be lower.
Get the most from the report
- Choose a date range that only covers sessions that have already run, to see how full they actually were
- Compare similar periods, such as the same month last year, to see how demand is changing
- Look for products with low capacity and consider whether to adjust the schedule, pricing or how you promote them
Helpful tips:
- Keep your maximum capacity up to date on each product so your report reflects how many people you can actually take
- Run the report regularly through the season so you can adjust your schedule while there's still time to fill spaces
- Products with spare capacity are great candidates for eola Marketplace, where new customers can discover them. Your Impact page (Reports -> Impact) shows how Marketplace is performing for you
