Create a rental
Learn how to enable rentals in eola and create bookable equipment hire, including setting durations, availability, pricing, discounts and customer booking options.
Rentals are a great way to maximise the value of your equipment and create an additional revenue stream. Unlike activities, rentals don't have fixed start times. Instead, customers can choose how long they would like to hire an item for, and eola will automatically calculate your availability based on what has already been booked.
You can choose the equipment you want to make available, set the rental durations you offer and allow customers to book directly through your widget.
Enable rentals
Before you can create a rental, you'll first need to enable the Rentals app. To do this, go to Toolset -> Apps -> Rentals -> Enable
Once enabled, you'll see a new Rentals option under the Products menu.
Create a rental
To create a rental, go to Products -> Rentals -> Create
You'll then work through a series of pages where you can build your rental and customise how it works for both you and your customers.
Rental details: Start by adding the information about your rental, including the equipment or item customers will be hiring.
Set your rental durations: The most important part of setting up a rental is your Rentable Interval Duration. This controls the length of time customers can hire your equipment for. You'll also need to set the minimum and maximum rental duration available. For example, you may allow customers to hire equipment for a minimum of 1 hour, up to a maximum of 8 hours. Customers will then be able to select their preferred rental duration through your widget.
Set your schedule: Set when your equipment is available to hire. You can use the Repeat function to create a recurring schedule that runs daily, weekly or yearly. You can choose for this to continue indefinitely or set an end date.
Set your pricing: You can set pricing based on the rental duration and the available resource. You can also add discounts based on the length of the rental.
Languages: If you've enabled Languages, you can customise the information displayed to customers depending on their browser language, helping you provide a better experience for international customers.
Options: The Options page controls how your rental appears and works on your booking widget. Here you can set your minimum booking notice, allow customers to purchase vouchers and assign the relevant disclaimer and question pack.
Once you're happy with your setup, click Save and Exit.
You can repeat this process whenever you need to add additional rentals to your eola account. You can also edit the rental information any time by going to Products -> Rentals -> Edit
