Create a membership price plan

Learn how to set up membership price plans in eola, including fixed-length and continuous options, pricing, benefits, renewal settings and payment intervals.

Once you've created a membership, you'll need to add a price plan before customers can purchase it.

If you haven't created your membership yet, start with our Create a Membership guide. When creating a new membership, you'll be taken directly to the pricing plan setup by clicking Continue to Pricing.

You can also add a new price plan to an existing membership at any time.  Go to Products -> Memberships, select the membership you'd like to add a pricing plan to, then click Add a Price Plan.

Choose your price plan

You can choose whether your membership is Continuous or Fixed Length.

  • Continuous: A continuous membership automatically renews at the chosen billing frequency until the outlet or customer cancels it. This is a good option for memberships that you'd like customers to keep until they choose to leave, for example, a monthly or annual membership.

  • Fixed-length: A fixed-length membership runs for a set period and then ends automatically, without the option for automatic renewal.  This can be useful if you offer seasonal memberships for a specific timeframe (such as 3, 6 or 12 months). It is also useful if you change your pricing frequently and would therefore benefit from not offering automatic renewals.

You can add multiple price plans

A membership can have multiple price plans, so you can give customers different ways to pay for the same membership. You can have multiple fixed-length plans, multiple continuous plans, or a combination of both. For example, you might offer a monthly plan, an annual plan and a quarterly plan under the same membership.

Set up your price plan

Start by giving your price plan a nickname. This is simply a short description to help you and your team identify the plan, so keep it factual and straightforward. For example, Adult monthly plan or Junior annual plan.

Next, enter the price of the membership. If you charge a one-off sign-up fee, you can add this here too. The sign-up fee will be included in the customer's initial payment.

You'll then need to choose the type of membership. Select Fixed length if the membership should run for a set period and then end, or Continuous if it should automatically renew until the customer cancels.

You'll also need to select the number of  membership benefit that applies to the plan, such as Adult or Children. If you're unsure what this means for your customers , take a look at our helpful adding membership benefits guide here.

Finally, select the number of periods the price plan applies to.

  • If you're creating a fixed-length plan: You'll also be asked whether you'd like to send a renewal membership when the current membership ends. You can choose to enable this if you'd like to invite the customer to continue their membership, or leave it switched off if you don't want to offer a renewal option.

  • If you're creating a continuous plan:  You'll need to choose the payment interval for automatic renewals. You can choose to bill customers weekly, monthly or annually.

Once you're happy, click Save.

Helpful tips:

  • Take a moment to check the summary at the bottom of the page before saving, particularly the price and renewal settings.

  • It's worth keeping your price plan nicknames simple and factual so they're easy for your team and customers to understand

  • Price plans cannot be edited once they've been created. If you need to change a price plan, you'll need to delete the existing one and create a new plan

  • Remember, you can create as many price plans as you need for a membership, including a mixture of fixed-length and continuous plans
