Ask different questions for different types of booking

Learn how to set up your question packs and activities so each customer is asked the questions that matter for the booking they're making.

Each activity, rental or accommodation uses one question pack, which keeps checkout clear and focused for your customers. If you need different information from different types of customer, such as beginners and experienced participants, there are two simple ways to set this up.

Option 1: One pack with optional questions

Create one question pack that includes every question you might need, and make the questions that only apply to some customers optional. Customers answer what's relevant to them and skip the rest. To do this, set Mandatory to 'No' on those questions.

This works well when you have a handful of extra questions and want one pack to look after.

Option 2: Separate activities, each with its own pack

Create a separate activity for each type of booking, for example "Taster session" and "Improver session", and give each one its own question pack. Customers choose the right activity on your widget and only see the questions for that booking.

This also lets you set different prices, descriptions and schedules for each group, which can make your widget clearer for customers.

Choose the question pack for an activity

To choose a question pack, go to Products -> Activities and select 'Edit' on the activity.

  1. Open the Options step
  2. Find the Docs and legal section
  3. Select the question pack from the Question pack dropdown
  4. Click Save and exit

The questions appear at checkout for all new bookings of that activity.

Good to know

  • You can create as many question packs as you like under Toolset -> Policies -> Question Packs
  • Changing a pack doesn't change answers on existing bookings

Helpful tips:

  • Keep packs short. Fewer questions means more customers complete checkout
  • Name your packs clearly, such as "Paddleboarding – beginners", so your team picks the right one
