# Add Google Analytics to your widget

## Learn how to connect Google Analytics to your booking widget so you can see how customers find and use it.

Google Analytics shows you how people find your booking widget and what they do once they're there. Connecting it helps you understand which of your marketing is working, so you can focus on what brings in bookings.

You can add Google Analytics with the Analytics tracking app, which is free to use.

**Switch on Analytics tracking**

1. Go to Toolset -\> Apps
2. Select 'Analytics tracking'
3. Select 'Add to eola' and confirm if prompted

**Find your measurement ID**

In Google Analytics, go to Admin -\> Data streams, select your web stream and copy the measurement ID. It starts with G-, for example G-ABC12345.

**Add it to your widget**

1. Go to Toolset -\> Widget -\> Widget settings
2. Under Widget analytics, paste your measurement ID into the 'Paste your GA-4 tracking code below' box
3. Click Save

Data should start appearing in your Google Analytics reports automatically.

**What can you see?**

- Customer traffic and demographics
- How customers use your widget
- How your marketing campaigns lead to visits

**Good to know**

- Use the GA-4 box for your measurement ID. The GA-3 box is for older Universal Analytics codes, which Google has replaced with GA4
- It can take a little while for data to start showing in Google Analytics

**Helpful tips:**

- Copy your measurement ID straight from Google Analytics to avoid typos
- Visit your widget after saving and check the Realtime report in Google Analytics to see your visit come through
- Compare traffic from your campaigns with your bookings to see what's working best
